I’m Asja, educator, mother and builder of new ideas for learning. For almost two decades, I have worked with young people in the Netherlands, the United States, and Aruba. Again and again, I saw how much ability, curiosity, and potential can remain hidden when learning becomes mainly about fitting in, keeping up, and getting through.

Asjavera is where I bring together the work, questions, and ideas that grew from that experience.

THE PHILOSOPHY

The world changed faster than education
Let’s not wait for it to catch up

The world is changing faster than the systems designed to prepare us for it.

It’s time to stop asking people to fit the system and start creating environments where they can truly learn, grow, and contribute.

Because education isn’t just about preparing for the future.

It’s about helping people shape it.

FOCUS

Awareness as a starting point

Knowing what you want to learn, who you are, and how you grow best. Attention as a skill, not a given.

MOVE

Learning by doing

Not theory for theory’s sake. Actually trying things, collaborating, and discovering what works in real situations.

CREATE

Making something that matters

Growth only has real value when it leads to something concrete. Something you’re actually proud of.

Driven by three beliefs: creativity unlocks potential,
sustainability gives it purpose, and technology used well makes both possible.

More about me

Educator. Builder. Mother.

I have worked in education for more than nineteen years, across the Netherlands, the United States and the beautiful island of Aruba.

During that time, I have worked with hundreds of young people, including many whose ability, curiosity or potential was not always visible in the way school expected it to be.

Not because they lacked intelligence or ambition, but because learning does not look the same for everyone. Some young people need more challenges. Others need clarity, movement, confidence, or someone who is willing to look beyond the first impression.

“For years, I thought I was not smart enough. Later, I realised I had never really learned how I learn.”

That understanding shapes the way I work today.

I am also a mother of two, which has made the questions behind my work even more personal: what do young people truly need to grow, how do we prepare them for a changing world, and how do we help them become more of who they already are?

Too many capable students struggle once they enter secondary school, not because they lack intelligence, but because they lack structure, confidence, and a sense of ownership. We build those foundations early through focus, movement, collaboration, and fun, meaningful challenges.
